Donald H. “Jug” Noland, 80, of Hopewell, died at 9:53 A.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 16, 1944, in Dresden, a son of the late Pearl Gibson and Ella Marie (Pieffer) Noland. Donald proudly served our country during the Vietnam War as a United States Navy veteran. He worked as a millwright at Owens Corning. Donald was a master craftsman, he created beautiful fretwork, and he loved fireworks and gardening. Donald always believed, “Love is a verb.” and never knew the word “stranger”, he made sure that everyone always felt welcome in his home. He was adventurous, charitable, liked to travel, loved animals, and took pride in taking care of the home that he built. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, the DAV, and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Charlene (Wright) Noland, whom he married on April 25, 1975; six children, Donald Noland Jr., Angela (Kenny) Herd, Holly (David) Noland-Evans, Tessie (Steven) Wilson, Keith (Gayla) Fisher, and Julie (Steve) Maneely; he was a loving grandfather and great grandpa to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Foley and Judy Kay Wagner; two brothers, Roy (Sandy) Noland and Mike (Brooke) Noland; and a sister-in-law, Flo Noland.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, James Noland; nine siblings, Maxine Lockhart, Ralph Noland, Elsie Garrett, Vernon Lee “Skip” Noland, Emma Poulson, Rodger Dale Noland, John Noland, Ronnie Noland, and Rick Noland; and two grandchildren, Kristian Wilson, and Lauren Maneely.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with  Rev. Joan Bolinger officiating. Military Honors will be accorded to him by the United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
