Donald Alan Parsons, 68, passed away on May 19, 2024, in his hometown of Zanesville, Ohio. Don was born on April 24, 1956, to parents Donald Parsons and Margaret (Shepler) Morrison. Growing up in Zanesville, He attended Maysville High School, graduating in the class of1974 and furthered his education at The Joint Vocational School. He primarily worked as a plumber and repairman for rental homes. Don’s true passion was music. As a singer-songwriter, he performed at various local venues and gatherings over the years, earning him the nickname “Don Juan the Guitar Man”. His most cherished memories were playing at the Veterans’ Bike Show at Putnam Landing, where he honored and celebrated those who served their country.

Don is survived by his brother, David Parsons; sister, Carol (Nick) Wilhelm; step-sister, Karen (Andy) Jackson of Plain Dealing, LA; and step-sister Karol Sidwell of Nashport OH; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Clarence "Jake" Morrison; grandparents, Montford and Ella Parsons, William and Agnes Shepler, and step-sister Kathi Conrad.

Throughout his illness, Don displayed remarkable courage and positivity, inspiring all who knew him. He often shared words of encouragement, urging others to “pace yourself” and “go have some fun today,” even through his most difficult days.

Care Center, Genesis Home Hospice Care, The Morrison House, and Walgreen’s Pharmacy, as well as Dr. Bastola and Dr. Espenlaub for their compassionate care and support during his illness.

In honoring Don’s wishes, a dignified cremation will take place under the direction of the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, OHIO without calling hours or a Memorial service. His memory will live on with those who knew him and enjoyed his music and the stories he shared.
