Donald E. Smart, 84, of Zanesville, died at 1:41 A.M. on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living, Zanesville. He was born January 8, 1933, in Toboso, a son of the late Paul and Sarah Hitchcock Smart. He was a United States Marine Veteran and a delivery man for Wonder Bread. Donald was also a member of Gratiot United Methodist Church, VFW of Hebron, and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of the home, Betty June Bauserman Smart whom he married June 24, 1956; a daughter, Kim (Tim) Lowe of Nashport; two grandchildren, Stephanie Lowe and Scott (Automn) Lowe; great-grandchildren, Cydni Lowe and Cale Lowe; and a sister, Carolyn (Jack) Dittoe of Thornville. Friends and family may call from 6:00 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday May 18, 2017 with Rev. William Blair II officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded to him by the United States Marines in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29. He will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brownsville.
