Doris V. Allwood

Doris Violetta Allwood, 92, of Zanesville, went home to be with Jesus at 5:03 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. She was born December 13, 1914, in High Hill, Meigs Twp., a daughter of the late George William and Edna May Mitchell Careins. She worked hard all her life, first, at the Hazel Atlas Glasshouse and for many years at Drake Nursing Home as an aide. Doris resided with her daughter Mary from the time she was 55 years old, helping raise nine children while Mary went to nursing school and worked full time. She was a loving mother and grandmother to all. She helped all when there was a need. Mrs. Allwood was a member of the First Church of God. She is survived by a son, John ( Martha) Wilson of Nashport, twin daughters, Mary (Charles) Wilson of Barnesville and Martha (Robert) Campbell of Frazeysburg; nineteen grandchildren; fifty eight great grandchildren; twenty one great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry S. Wilson, who died in 1951; her second husband, Charles Allwood, who died February 21, 1973; a sister, Frances Leonard and three brothers, Pearl, Zail and Robert Careins. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2007 at the First Church of God, 1930 Newark Road, Zanesville, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007 with her grandson, Rev. Robert Davis assisted by Rev. Glen Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville with grandson-in-law, Rev. Larry Jack officiating. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville entrusted with arrangements.
