Dorothy E. (Nichols) Daugherty

Dorothy E. Nichols Daugherty, 82, of Cadiz, Ohio passed away peacefully at 10:30 a.m. on August 26, 2011 at the home of her son, Richard in Zanesville, Ohio. Dorothy was born March 23, 1929 in Cadiz, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ralph and Edna Nation Nichols. Dorothy continued to reside in Cadiz with her husband, Richard Lee Daugherty whom she married on April 1, 1950. Dorothy was formerly employed by Mine and Tool, the Harrison County Home, Eagles Nest Restaurant, and was retired as a cook from R & F Coal Company. She was a member of Church of God of Cadiz. Dorothy also enjoyed yard sales, shopping, cooking, music and camping at Ponderosa Park and Canfield Fair. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Gary (Vicki) Daugherty, Tambra Harris both of Cadiz, and Richard Daugherty (Teresa Headley) of Zanesville; six grandchildren, Robin (Matt) Dowdle of Cadiz, Tonya (Joe Toto) Daugherty of Adena, Charles Harris, Jr., of Cadiz, Angel (Scott Moore) Harris of Cadiz, Shawn Daugherty of Hopedale, Crissy (Brad ) Zambski of Barton; 13 great grandchildren, Corey Daugherty, Austin Dawdle, Kyle Yant, Alexia Dowdle, Ethan Toto, Logan Harris, Jordan King, Shaelynn Harris , Tyler James (TJ) Moore, Breann Daugherty, Brad Zambski, Tyler Zambski, and Dylan Zambski; a sister, Shirley (Ben) Barton of Englewood, Florida; her birds Chico and Pepe; her beloved dog, Gidget who never left her side during her illness; and numerous friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, who died November 22, 1987, her son, Ralph (2002), a son-in-law, Charles Harris (2005), a sister, Agnes Thompson, and two infant brothers. The family expresses a sincere thank you for the caring services of Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care of Zanesville, Ohio. A dignified cremation has taken place. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Oh has assisted the family with local arrangements. A memorial service to honor Dorothys life will be held Tuesday August 30, 2011 at 7:00 pm. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 until the time of service at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home Inc, 172 Main Street S, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
