Dorothy Jean Hoffman, 87, of Zanesville, died at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Adams Lane Care Center. She was born November 27, 1920, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Anthony G. and Harriett Jackson Mehling. She attended Lash High School and graduated in 1938 then attended Cameo Beauty School and graduated in 1940. Jean worked for Roseanne's Beauty Shop then Clyde Hairdressers. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, she studied voice at Muskingum College and sung in the choir. She also sang in the Zanesville Choir Chorus. She met and married Harry A. Hoffman on February 1, 1957. After both retired, they managed the new Racquet Club Apartments for over twenty years. After Mr. Hoffman's death on October 7, 1999, Mrs. Hoffman moved back into the apartments where she lived until her health caused her to move into the Adams Lane Care Center. She is survived by two cousins and special friends, Sherry Ryan and Sam Dykes, both of Zanesville. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hoffman and a sister, Isobel Miller. No calling hours will be observed. A caring cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville with Rev. Ray Morrison Jr. officiating.
