Dorothy C. Knight, 92 of Primrose Retirement Community, died at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Willow Haven Care Center. She was born October 26, 1917 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Pearl and Beatrice Shiplett Snelling. Dorothy attended Maranatha Bible Church. She retired from J.C. Penney's. She also had worked in the office for the following companies: Mosaic Tile Co., Woolworth's and the David Davies Corporation. Surviving are a son, Larry (Nancy) Knight of Brazil, Indiana and a daughter; Sondra ( Charles) Lewis of Zanesville; a brother, Paul Snelling of Mt. Vernon, a sister-in-law, Marge Leake of Zanesville and eight grandchildren; Roxanne ( John Hillis) Lewis, Bryan (Sheri) Lewis, Kevin Lewis all of Zanesville, Ruth (Mike) Eslinger of Indiana, Naomi (Phil) Vice, Leah (Jed) Gobin , Sarah (Phil) Cusick all of Illinois and Larry II (Kim) Knight of Indiana; great grandchildren, Shanelle, Brady, and Curtis Lewis, Josh and Jessica Eslinger, Phillip Vice, Karrisa Gobin, Trent and Kayla Cusick and Larry III, Leanna and Kade Knight. Many nieces and nephews including a special niece who was a ray of sunshine to Dorothy, Lois Moore of Zanesville. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her husband, Clyde ( Jack) Knight, whom she married May 20, 1940 and passed away February 26, 2005, her brother, Glenn Snelling and two sisters, Laura Merkle and Evelyn Bostick. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor L. Dale McCallister and Pastor Treg Spicer officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
