Dorothy Elinor Norris, 88, of Nashport, entered into Eternal Rest at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Norris was born August 5, 1920, in Zanesville, a daughter of William and Julia Magee Barker. She was married to Basil Norris Jr. on April 27, 1938. She was a member of the Gratiot Rebekah Lodge of Gratiot, I.O.O.F. for several years. She was employed at the Flint Ridge Museum until the age of 85 years. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, where she served as the communion steward, several committees and Sunday School teacher. She is survived by her nine children, Linda L.(Jerry) Fox of Zanesville, Sharon E. Melton of Springfield, Illinois, Basil (Julia) Norris III of Newark, Charles E. (Roberta) Norris of Zanesville, Thomas D. (Vickie) Norris of Nashport, Ernest C. Norris of Logan, Melody A.(Rick) Day of Nashport, William R. (Janet) Norris of Newport News, VA. and Molly J. Norris of Nashport. Also, 18 grandchildren plus several step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and also step great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil; her parents; her sister, Julia Llewellyn; her three brothers, Charles, Francis and John Barker; a grandson, Basil "Little Bud" Norris IV; and a great grandson, Ryan Hamilton. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the funeral home with her son, the Rev. Charles Norris and Pastor Tom Uppole officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
