Dorothy E. Prouty, 84, of Zanesville, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born November 26, 1919 at Zanesville a daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen Miller Hoare. She was a homemaker, a former fabrics buyer for J.C. Penney's, and was the former Director for the Senior Center on Market Street. She was a member of Eastern Star # 485 where she had served as past worthy matron twice, and a member of Zane Court of the Amaranth.She was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, having served in various capacities at the church. She was a volunteer for Good Samaritan Hospital for many years. Surviving are two daughters; Barbara Prouty of Zanesville and Janet Ralph of Rocky River, two sons; Kevin Prouty of Zanesville and Darren ( Teresa ) Prouty of Stonecreek, five grandchildren; Ellen ( Martin ) Perry, Michelle ( Daniel ) Nott, David Ralph, Christopher Prouty and Meagan Prouty, three great grandchildren; Mitchell Perry, Camden Perry and Chloe Nott. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Miller Prouty, who died October 29, 1980, two sons; Thomas & Robert Prouty, two sisters; Pauline Young and Kathryn Wininger. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 at The Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24 with Rev. John Earhart officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.Eastern Star 485 will hold services at 5:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
