Dr. Melvin R. Krohn, 91, of Zanesville, OH, died peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2015, in Cleveland, OH. He was born March 18, 1924, in Cleveland, the son of the late Abe and Anne Aron Krohn. He received his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Michigan, his Master's Degree in Chemistry at The Ohio State University and his M.D. from the University Of Buffalo Medical School. He did his residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, with a pediatric specialty in Newington CT. He practiced Orthopedic Surgery in Zanesville from 1958-1995 at Orthopedic Associates. He was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Medical Association and Muskingum County Medical Society. He served in the Army in World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines. He is survived by children Susan (Todd) Cahen of Cleveland, Judy (Gary) Terle of Columbia MD and Dan (Mary Lou) Krohn of Cincinnati; and 4 grandchildren, Matt (Stacy) Krohn, Hannah Terle, Eric Krohn and Arielle Terle. He is also survived by his brother Alan Krohn of Ventura, CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Pauline Schermer Krohn. Friends and family may call from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Rabbi Jeffrey Elson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Beth Abraham Jewish Cemetery, Zanesville.
