Duane F. Mcpherson

Duane F. McPherson, 71, of Zanesville, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2007 at his residence. He was born May 20, 1935, in Mt. Sterling, a son of the late LeRoy Felton and Mary Etta Zinn McPherson. He retired in 1990, after 37 years of service as a machine repair man at Brockway Glass. He raced stock cars for 13 years and at the age of 16, was a Golden Glove Boxing champion. He was a member of the Zane Grey Ole Auto Club, which he owned a 1951 Ford and this was his favorite, a 1963 Ford Galaxie and a 1965 Mustang and he won numerous trophies for his cars. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Brockway Campers Club and he enjoyed raising bloodhounds. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jennings McPherson, whom he married, August 16, 1955, of the home; a son, Michael (Linda) McPherson of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Justin McPherson, Thera McPherson and Evan McPherson, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Marian Frank of Zanesville and Shirley Brown of Dunlap, Tenn. and his loving dogs, Ella Mae, Pretty Boy and Barney. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Dupler officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Roseville. Funeral procession for the Zane Grey Ole Auto club will form at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
