Dwight E. Clossen

Dwight E. Clossen, 92, of Zanesville, died at 8:40 A.M. on Friday, December 21, 2012, at the Helen Purcell Home. He was born May 19, 1920, in Adamsville, a son of the late Floyd G. and Lillian F. Knipe Clossen. He was a 1938 graduate of Lash High School and went on to graduate from Meredith Business College. He retired as a Rural Letter Carrier on July 4, 1976, and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1983. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and of the Lodge of Amity #5 F & AM. Dwight enjoyed traveling, camping, and hiking, and after his retirement he spent time building and repairing houses. Surviving are a daughter, Constance Ann (Roger) Tom of Coshocton; a sister Carol E. Burgess of Duluth, GA; six grandchildren, Cheryl Poland of Phoenix, AZ, Shelly Kiser of Pataskala, Kristi McCarley of Cartersville, GA, Jason Tom of Dallas, TX, Andrew Tom of Columbus, and Michelle Tom of Denver, CO; and five great grandchildren, Alex Poland, Austin and Kaelin Kiser, and Ori and Damon McCarley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie J. Brown Clossen, whom he married June 4, 1942, and who died April 14, 2008; two sisters Eva A. Reed and Rosemary Clossen; and five brothers, Dallas T., Donald, Kenneth M., Harold A., and Robert E. Clossen. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 27, 2012, with Pastor Joe Seese officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Bonnie, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ's Table: 28 S 6th Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
