Dwight Stotts

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013, Dwight Stotts departed his earthly body to join his family and friends at Heaven's gate. Dwight was born May 28th, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio, the 8th child of 11 to Paul F. and Esther Wogan Stotts. Dwight was a hard worker his entire life. Beginning at age 13, he was logging with his father and brothers and continued working daily until 3 weeks before his death. He took great pride in a job well done. He retired from Armco (AK) Steel after 37 years. In October of 1949, Dwight enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country during the Korean War and fought in 5 major battles. After 36 months he was honorably discharged. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents. Also 4 brothers, Jack, R.Dale, Ralph and Ronald Stotts, 3 sisters, Faye Stotts Soter, Peggy Jean Settles- Bagley, and Gloria Stotts Wells. He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Paris Renay Stotts. Dwight leaves his devoted wife, J. Charlene Stotts, whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage with on October 3rd, 2013. He also leaves his only child, Lisa Stotts (George) Wise. Two loving grandchildren, Job A. (Amber) Wise, of Colorado Springs, CO. and Kidron Stotts Wise (Bill) Young of Brewer, MS. Four beautiful great- grandchildren Dwight Eli Stotts Wise (11) , Adelie Eloise Wise (7), Ayla Claire Wise (7), and Greyson Curtis Wise (5). Three cherished sisters, Wanda Creeks, Ruthie Taggart, and Glenna (Don) Dilts, all of Zanesville. His loyal companion and rescue dog, " Sweet Pea" and many close friends from school, work and his church, Union town Baptist Church in Fultonham, Ohio. Dwight was a born again Christian and with this knowledge, we rejoice in the time he was with us and the knowledge we will all be together again. Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013, with Pastor Larry Diamond officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, where full military honors will be presented by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post 1058. In lieu of flowers, Dwight and his family request that memorials be sent to Uniontown Baptist Church: 7700 Old Town Rd, Fultonham, OH 43738.
