E. Virginia Shafer

E. Virginia Shafer passed away August 29, 2016 at the age of 93. Virginia was a life member of the Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu Association. She was a retired editor, feature writer and columnist for the Zanesville, Ohio, Times Recorder. Virginia was a member of Central Presbyterian Church of Zanesville, and the Zanesville Business and Professional Womens Club. Surviving are two nephews, Okey Roger Shafer (Rhonda) of Amherst, Ohio. Jerold Rhys Shafer (Carrie) of Westlake, Ohio and her niece, Dixie Marie Streisel (John) of Parma, Ohio. Also surviving are four grandnephews, three grandnieces, six great-grandnephews and two great-grandnieces. Her parents, Okey and Elizabeth Jones Shafer; her brother, Roger Jones Shafer; her sister-in-law, Helen M Shafer and her nephew, Steven Jones Shafer, predeceased her. Virginias maternal ancestors were from Glamorganshire, Wales. No calling hours will be held. A dignified cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be held.
