Edith J. Gonda, 95, of Zanesville, died at 9:50 P.M. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Willow Haven Care Center. She was born June 14, 1918, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late John and Ruth Case Wilson. She had worked for Essex Wire, as a cashier at Powell's Grocery Store, and volunteered at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. Edith was a long time member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, Bob (Kay) Gonda and Bill (Pat) Gonda, all of Zanesville; a daughter Sally (Red) Merle of Pickerington; seven grandchildren, Michael Gonda, Debra Lasure, Robin Driver, Scott Gray, Mary Waldron, Andy Gonda, and Dave Gonda; twelve great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Gonda who died May 5, 1987; and two brothers, John and Bob Wilson. Friends and family may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, August 30, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main Street, Zanesville, with Father Martin Ralko as Celebrant. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Andrew at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
