Edna Ione ( Hothem ) Booth, 87, of Zanesville, Ohio died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 9:05 a.m. at Helen Purcell Home after a long illness. She was born August 30, 1917 in Newcomerstown, Ohio , she was raised on a farm and graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1935 where she was a cheerleader. She received a cosmetology degree in 1939 and had a shop in West Lafayette. On July 6, 1939, she married Edmond J. Booth, M.D. her husband of 55 years untill his death on September 9, 1998. Mom kept busy golfing, bowling, gardening and modeling. She was active member at St. John Lutheran Church. She was also active in JuniorAssembly of Bethesda Hospital and President of the Auxilary to the Muskingum County Academy of Medicine. Most of ther time was spent raising her four boys. Her family will remember her as gracious, caring, supportive, and beautiful. The old saying that there has to be a place in Heaven for a mom who raises four boys, has to be true for our mom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond J. Booth, her father, Edward G. Hothem and her mother, Eva Harsteine Hothem plus siblings, Robert Edwin Hothem, Burton Hothem, Helen Hothem and Irene Domer. Surviving are her sons, James W. Booth, D.V. M. (Pam ) Edward Joseph Booth, M.D. ( Betty) Jack B. Booth, M.D. and Jon G. Booth (Marcie) all of Zanesville and grandchildren, Darin Booth, Kristin Booth, Annie Booth, Elizabeth Booth, Jamie Booth and Branyan A. Booth, M.D. step-grandchildren, Matt Headley (Rhea) Jeff Headley, Jodi Carpenter (Ryan) Jayme Starkey (Shane) and Ted Porter and several step-great grandchildren. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. till service time Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Al Towberman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial conbtributions may be made to Christ's Table, St. John's Lutheran Church or to Helen Purcell Home. The family wishes to thank the employees of Helen Purcell Home for taking care of mom over the last five years.
