Edna Mae Maxwell

December 14, 1912 — May 29, 2006

Edna Mae Herrmann Maxwell, died on May 29, 2006. Mrs. Maxwell was born on December 14, 1912, a daughter of Blanche Ragor Herrmann and William Herrmann. She lived her entire life in Zanesville. An excellent musician, playing the piano, marimba and drums. As a young woman, she performed with local bands on the radio. A life-time member of the Market Street Baptist Church, she was a teacher, committee member and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and P.T.A. member. Entering Ohio University in later life, she earned a magna cum laude degree in special education. She was then a teacher at the Starlight School and later tutored at East Side Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 46 years, James Maxwell; a sister, Margaret Herrmann Schwarzel and a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Maxwell. She is survived by two children; son James Maxwell (wife Susan) and their children, Amy (Forest) Gibson and Jennifer (Mark) Chambers; and daughter, Joan Maxwell and her children, John Radabaugh (Melinda) and Carrie Radabaugh (John Riordan) and one great-grandson, Max Owen Chambers. She is also survived by good friend and care giver, Norma Lent. Memorial contributions may be given to East Side Ministry, PO Box 965, 221 Stillwell St., Zanesville, OH 43702. Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Oh.
