Edrie Blackburn, 102, of Zanesville, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006 at The Helen Purcell Home. She was born September 4, 1903 in Gas City, Indiana, a daughter of the late Harry and Mary Ball Blackburn. She worked for Dr. Dennis, Barnaby-Shanney, Railroad Express and for Shirley's Pharmacy, was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star # 485. Surviving are a sister, Emma B. Mertz of Zanesville, nieces, Marylin M. Lane of Nashport, Mary Frances B. Schickedantz of Greensboro, NC., Jane (Charles) W. Walker of Johnstown, and nephews, Charles (Barb) Mertz of Wooster, Roger Blackburn of Batavia, Sam (Kim) Walker of Marietta, Georgia and David (Sandy) Walker of Gallipolis and six great nieces and nine great nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sydney Blackburn, a sister, Frances B. Walker, a nephew, John H. Walker and by a special friend, Harold Keyes. No calling hours will be observed. A caring cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance celebrating Edrie's life will be held at a later date at the Helen Purcell Home with Rev. John Edwards officiating. Burial will then take place at Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Helen Purcell Home, 1854 Norwood Blvd, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 or to the charity of one's choice. The Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Service , 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville was entrusted with all arrangements.
