Edward W. “Ed” Boyer, 82, of South Zanesville, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Cedar Hill Care Center, Zanesville. He was born April 7, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late E.P. and Grace Boyer. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Ed retired in 1977 after serving his country for twenty years. After his retirement from the Navy, Ed and his family moved to South Zanesville. He worked as a truck dispatcher for over thirty years and retired from Quickway Carriers in 2009. Ed never met a slot machine that he didn’t enjoy and loved taking trips to Wheeling with his wife, Penny. He also enjoyed playing cards on the computer and cooking. His specialties were chili, vegetable soup, linguini salad, and spaghetti and meatballs. An avid sports fan and true Yinzer, Ed was a huge supporter of the Pittsburgh Pirates and his beloved Steelers.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Penny (Patterson) Boyer; two daughters, Michelle (Shawn Wiseman) of Newark, OH and Stacey (Bob) McCullough of Washington, PA; four grandchildren, McKenzie and Dalton Miller and Bayleigh and Braeden McCullough; his furry best friend, Jetta; three brothers, Jimmy (Cathy) Boyer of Hanover, PA, Tommy Boyer of Ormond Beach, FL, and Ronald (Sandy) Boyer of Conway, PA; two sisters, Evelyn (Ben) Fredrick of Swickley, PA and Patty Matheny of Ambridge, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mike; sister, Miriam Molnar; and brothers, Bobby and Paul Boyer.

A cremation will take place with no services to be held. An inurnment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA at a later date with Full Military Honors. BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE is entrusted to all arrangements.
