Edward W. Emerick, 84, of Zanesville, died at 12:15 A.M. Monday, October 8, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born August 28, 1928 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, a son of the late George and Mary Guess Emerick. Edward served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Master Plumber who owned and operated Emerick Plumbing for 22 years, and had previously worked for Touvell Plumbing. He was a member of the Fair Oaks Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 29, and the DAV. He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Dustman of Zanesville; four sons, David Emerick, Rodney Emerick and Robert Emerick, all of Zanesville and Gary Emerick of Vermillion, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Roger (Kay); three sisters, Marykay, Louella, and Betty; and a half brother Jimmy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Eloise Emerick, who died December 5, 2008; a son, Stephen Edward Emerick, who died January 31, 2012; and two brothers, Harold and Wes Emerick. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Shoemaker officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Alice, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville.
