Edward Gramlich, 87, of Zanesville, died at 9:13 P.M. on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Emeritus at North Hills. He was born April 11, 1926, in Zanesville to the late Charles Christian and Anna Louissa Ackerman Gramlich. Ed graduated from Lash High School, and following graduation was called to serve in the United States Army. He served in World War II and was in active duty in Japan in Pacific Theatre, and was one of the first waves of G.I. soldiers on Nagasaki and Hiroshima after the atomic bomb was dropped. He enjoyed sharing his many interesting war stories. He was a lifelong resident of Zanesville and worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep for 55 years with Bailey Drug and then Cardinal Health. Ed lived and loved to be with family, which was the core of his life, and he shared in many family vacations and celebrations. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Geraldine Boice Gramlich, whom he married November 18, 1947; two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Burchett and Carolyn (Brad) Stubbs, all of Zanesville; grandchildren Heather (Chris) Burford of Fort Wayne, IN, Ryan (Jody) Burchett of Nashport, and Erin and Nathan Stubbs of Zanesville; great grandchildren Chloe, Caleb, and Kristian Burford, and Austin and Tanner Burchett; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Helen Buchanan; and an infant brother Charles Gramlich. Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by VFW George Selsam Post #1058 in conjunction with the U.S. Army.
