Edward J. Matthews

Edward J. Matthews, 85, of Broadview Heights, died at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the Oaks of Brecksville. He was born December 26, 1927, in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Thomas R. and Mary Harsch Matthews. He retired after 35 years as Regional Sales Manager for Washington Steel Corp. He was a member of Masonic Lodge of Cleveland #0781 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland, a Past Master of Iris Lodge #229 F & AM, and a member of Eastern Star Muskingum Chapter #485. Surviving are his wife of 55 years Helen Calhoon Matthews, whom he married October 25, 1958; and a daughter Dr. Hilary Matthews of Columbus. No calling hours will be observed. The family will hold private graveside services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any animal foundation of your choice.
