Edward A. Payne

April 14, 1941 — February 5, 2024

Edward A. Payne, 82, of New Concord, OH, passed away peacefully at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House on February 5, 2024. He was born April 14, 1941, to George B. and Evalyn (Kirk) Payne.

Ed married Alice (Hicks) August 9, 1963. They would have celebrated their 61st Anniversary in August. He retired from General Electric and The New Concord United Methodist Church.

Ed and his wife attend Cornerstone Full Gospel Church, Duncan Falls, OH. He loved to be outside mowing grass and helping with hay on the family farm. He enjoyed long drives to the Amish Country, as well as looking for antiques, as well as tending to their spot at the National Rd Flea Market, and rescuing shelter dogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Vinesca D. Payne; and sister-in-law Shirley Payne.

Surviving in addition to his wife Alice (Hicks) Payne are his sons, Vincent “Vinny” and his wife Julie, and David and his wife Lisa, all of New Concord; five grandchildren, Kacey (CJ) Baker, Genna (Dakota) Norton, Leaha (Josh) Fitch, Zachary “Zach” Payne, and Michaela (Jon) Piper; ten great grandchildren; one brother Richard M. Payne; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Per Ed’s wishes, a caring cremation and private graveside service will take place at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE.
