Edward L. Wilson, 70, of Frazeysburg and Naples, Florida, died at 12:24 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born December 29, 1935, in Zanesville, the son of the late George E. Wilson and Betty Jones Wilson of Zanesville.. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his loving wife, Mary Lou Smith Wilson; his children Rick, (Erin) Wilson, Vicki (William) Sharrer, Erin Kay (William) Garner, and Randy (Shelly) Wilson; two sisters, Phyllis (Willard) White of Warren, Pennsylvania, and Janet Lang, of Columbus, Ohio; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilson formed the Wilson Construction Company with his father, George Wilson, in 1955. It has been continually in operation and is currently owned and operated by his son Rick Wilson. Along with the construction company, Mr. Wilson instructed the first two years of the carpentry program at the Muskingum Area Joint Vocational School (Muskingum-Perry Career Center) and served as Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator for the city of Zanesville He was a member of the Muskingum County Homebuilders, serving as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He also served on the Advisory Board for the Architecture Program at Muskingum Area Technical College, (Zane State College) and was elected Central Committeeman for Muskingum Township. An advocate of youth programs and sports, he volunteered many years as a coach and 4-H advisor. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2006 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. Luke Turon, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mattingly Settlement in Nashport.
