Elizabeth P. "Betty" (Spiker) Casner

Elizabeth "Betty" P. Casner, 93, of Zanesville, completed this life's journey at 11:31 A.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at the Cedar Hill Care Center, with her daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law at her side. She was born July 4, 1922, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Walter and Dollie Dorsey Spiker. She was a member of Eastern Star, Rosa Shrine, and the First United Methodist Church. She had been a dental assistant before her retirement. She was a kind, caring and selfless lady who never had an unkind word to say. Betty loved to cook and her mile high meringue cream pies were famous among her friends, a tradition her daughter, Kathy, continues. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Lee) Hetrick and Mary B. (Brian) Buzby; a son William Casner; three granddaughters; three grandsons; four great grandsons; three great granddaughters; her sister Virginia Danley; and several beloved nieces, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl W. Casner, who died October 12, 1996; a daughter Ann Smith; a brother Roy Spiker; and a daughter-in-law Mary Jo Casner. Friends and family may call from 2:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016, with Pat Wiseman-Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Betty's memory be made to Genesis Hospice-Morrison House: 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
