Elnora L. "Ellie" Beckert, 70, of South Zanesville, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at her residence. She was born January 3, 1940, in Wooster, Ohio, a daughter of the late William James and Laura Wolfe Landes. She retired in 2007 after 31 years of service as a library aide for the Maysville School District. Ellie loved the ladies that she worked with and continued to volunteer at the library after she retired. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling with Century National Bank's Freedom Years and the "Knitting" club. Surviving are a son, James D. (Tammy) Beckert Jr. of Bargersville, Indiana; a daughter, Debra (Brian) Cotter of Middletown, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jovian James Beckert Cotter, James Curtis Beckert, Jessica Ann Beckert, Aedyn Thomas Beckert Cotter and Jeremy Lyle Beckert; a brother-in-law, F. Richard (Nancy Ann) Beckert of Cadiz, Ohio; and her beloved partner, Abby the cat. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David Beckert Sr., who died January 6, 2006; and two brothers, Rev. James W. Landes and Robert E. Landes. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010 at the funeral home with Dr. Richard Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
