Emma Virginia Parr McKenzie, 88, of Hopewell, went home to be with her Lord at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Genesis Extended Care and Rehab Center. Emma was born August 26, 1919, in Hopewell, the daughter of the late Ivo and Ina Redman Parr. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church where she was very active. She graduated from Hopewell High School Class of 1937. She married George J. McKenzie on September 5, 1953 and devoted her life to being a wife and mother and was an active part of their dairy farm. She enjoyed gardening, her pets and spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Karl (Vicki), Kenneth (Linda) and Kermit (Judy) McKenzie, all of Hopewell; ten grandchildren, Chad (Crystal), Scott (Robin), Shane (Mandy), Jessica, Andy (Kristin), Adam (Tabitha), Keith McKenzie, Kayla (J.D.) Thornton, Eric and Greg McKenzie; nine great grandchildren, Dakota, Dylana, Drew, Cord, Kalib, Tyler, Connor McKenzie, Colin and Jayden Thornton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George J. McKenzie, who passed away August 23, 1982. Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Mt. Olive Road, Hopewell, with Rev. Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
