Erwin L. Mcdonald Sr.

Erwin L. "Mac" McDonald Sr., 87, of Zanesville, died at 7:15 P.M. on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Genesis Hospital. He was born April 9, 1928 in Muskingum Township. A son of the late John C. and Margaret E. DeGarmo McDonald. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Company after 36 years of service as a repairman. Erwin was a member of the Masonic Lodge #103 of Dresden, Order of Eastern Star #260 of Dresden, Muskingum County Association of Scottish Rite, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Amrou Grotto #45 and American Legion Post 399. Surviving are his three sons, E. Lee McDonald Jr. of Zanesville, Robert A. (Shirley) McDonald of Nashport and Gordon Russ McDonald of Zanesville; three daughters, Kimberly I. (Tim) Stackhouse of Chandlersville, Jeanie M. McDonald of Zanesville and Jacaila A. (Delmar) Fleming of Crooksville; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Louisa Howard of Macksburg, and Leah Couts of Akron; a special friend and excellent care giver, Rhodena Potts of Zanesville and special friend, Don Plunkett of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a twin granddaughter, Shelly Stackhouse; a sister, Catherine Headley; and a brother, John C. McDonald. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Erwin will be laid to rest with full military honors held by the VFW and U.S. Navy at Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, OH.
