Evelyn M. (Young) Hickman

Evelyn M. Hickman, 88, of Zanesville, died at 12:20 P.M. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at her home. She was born March 4, 1925, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Roy D. and Ida Watier Young. She retired from General Electric after over 25 years, was a longtime member of over 50 years at Central Trinity United Methodist Church, and was a P.O.W. Member-Marietta Chapter. She loved music and enjoyed listening to Sweet Adeline's, was a loving sister, loved cards and played once a month in Dresden at the Senior Center, loved quilting, and was a huge Buckeye fan. She and her husband enjoyed camping and traveled to Florida every year in the winter. Evelyn especially loved to spend time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Surviving are a daughter Jane Hartley of Zanesville; a son Rick (Myra) Hickman of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren, Bryan (Rebecca) Hartley of Zanesville, Jennifer (Bart) Brinkman of Pickerington, Colton Hickman of Zanesville, Chandler Hickman of Greenville, SC, and Seth West of Zanesville; three great grandchildren, Emily Brinkman, Maddie Brinkman, and Max Brinkman; and a brother Roy R. Young of Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clifford Hickman, who died August 2, 1999; and a grandson Michael Hartley. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 25, 2013, with Rev. Tom England officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
