Evelyn M. Nabb, 93, of Nashport, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Adams Lane Care Center. She was born May 27, 1915, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late James Emmett and Rose Edna Abrams Short. She retired as a packer for Brockway Glass and volunteered at the Senior Center on West Main Street. She was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years. She liked to do word search books and enjoyed her grandchildren. She and her late husband worked the concession stand in the Muskingum County Court House. Surviving are a daughter, Betty (Jerry) Lighthizer of Nashport; a son, Robert L. (Wanda) Grant Sr. of Roseville; 10 grandchildren, Pam Curry, Jeff (Polly) Curry, Sandy (Tim) Krause, Donna (Charlie) Teetz, David (Kathy) Lighthizer, Danny Lighthizer, Rick (Roxy) Grant, Randy (Lora) Grant, Robert (Marilyn) Grant Jr. and Lori Wells; 24 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Charles Nabb, who died April 11, 1997; a daughter, Dorothy Delores Curry; a son, Samuel Dewey Grant; a granddaughter, Vicky Grant Stotts; a brother, William Harvey Short; and a sister, Alma Tracy. Private services were held at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Doris Flynn officiating. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville is entrusted with all arrangements.
