Evelyn Mayle Newell, 91, of Zanesville, died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born April 15, 1919, in Bartlett, Ohio, a daughter of the late Carroll T. and Annice A. Croston Mayle. She had many church affiliations from traveling throughout the state with her brother, Rev. L. Henry Mayle. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, sewing and reading, especially reading her bible as well as listening to Christian broadcast systems. She also enjoyed listening to sermons, poetry and songs written by her brother, Rev. L. Henry Mayle. She enjoyed visits from relatives and friends as well as sending them cards, notes and letters. Surviving are eight nieces, Paula (Wayne Honesty) Mayle of Columbus, Dorothy (Dale) Goins and Pamela (Michael) Norman, both of Zanesville, Beverly (Dan) Adams of Gahanna, Susan (Dwight) Greer of Reynoldsburg, Gracia (Tony) Hill of Zanesville, Debra Newman and Lina (Gregory) Newman-James, both of Pickerington; a nephew, Phillip (Connie) Mayle of Zanesville; 16 great nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Cindy (Joe) Ford of Plainfield, New Jersey; and a sister-in-law, Mary Mayle of Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Newell, who died in 1944; a sister, Gladys L. Newman; two brothers, Paul W. Mayle and Rev. L. Henry Mayle; two nephews, Ronald Henry Mayle and William Carroll Newman; and an aunt, Susie Harper. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Terry D. Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, Ohio.
