Evelyn Sowers, 91, of Zanesville, left her earthly home for her heavenly mansion at 4:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House. She was born January 21, 1914, in Waterford to the late August and Edith (Logue) Remleigh Evelyn Sowers was a member of the North Terrace Church of Christ. She was known for her integrity, generosity, faith, honesty, sincerity, persistent witness, bold but gentle spirit, intense love of the Lord, and commitment to do what is right. She is survived by two daughters Pat (Ed) Schlaegel and Sharon Derry of Zanesville. She left behind wonderful neighbors including Larry and Beth White and Isabelle Zarley. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Jim (Bobbi Jo) Schlaegel of Wilmington; Jerry (Lynn) Schlaegel of Urbana; Jeff Schlaegel of Zanesville; John (Sondra) Schlaegel of Zanesville; Eric (Michelle) Derry of Goshen, KY; Todd Derry of Lancaster; Chris (Candace) Derry of Akron; Sean (Deanne) Derry; and Thelma Bartley of Dresden. Also surviving her are twenty-four great grandchildren: Samantha, Jacob, Abbey, Chris, Megan, Brandie (fiancee Sam Scott), Adam & Jessica Schlaegel; Brooke (Ty) Wright; Elijah, Joseph, Jonathan, Micah, Josiah, Asa, Alannah, Arianna, Tristen, Lydia, Sea, Ireland, and Afton Derry; Craig and Dillon Bartley. Also survived by brother and sister-in-laws; Albert Sowers, Bernard (Glenda) Sowers, Robert (Doris) Sowers, Betty (Don) Dover of Zanesville and Wanda Marlatt of Cambridge. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence E. Sowers, a daughter Mary Nancy Sowers, a son Jimmy Sowers, brothers James and Richard Remleigh, and sisters Geraldine McNab and Beatrice Shuster. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, July 22, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home located at 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the North Terrace Church of Christ on Bowers Lane in Zanesville with Bobby Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Terrace Church of Christ.
