Everett G. Leedom, 87, of Zanesville passed away on March 1, 2023 at The Oaks at Bethesda, where he had been a resident for the past year. Born at the family farm on January 23, 1936, to Carlos W. and Thelma M. (Wilson) Leedom, Everett was a 1954 graduate of Chandlersville High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was especially proud of obtaining the Expert Marksman Badge. Everett was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church from 1963 until his passing.
Everett is survived by his wife of 61 years, E. Marie (Allison) Leedom, as well as his two children, Edward Leedom, of Zanesville and Vickie (Michael) Gaiters, of Zanesville, as well as five grandchildren: John T. Leedom, Ella Leedom (Brandon Baccus) of Perrysburg, OH, Tyler (Hannah) Gaiters, Caleb Gaiters (Alexis DalPonte), and Sydney Gaiters, of Zanesville and two great-grandchildren: Alexandria Baccus of Perrysburg and Jaiden Gaiters of Zanesville and one great grandchild to be born in September, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Wanda M. Johnson.
Everett worked for 16 years as a die maker at Champion Sparkplug Co. in Cambridge before starting a successful career in Real Estate and later as the owner of Window Concept Center in Zanesville. Everett served as President of the Zanesville Board of Realtors in the mid-1970's as well as 20 years on the East Muskingum School Board, a member of the Perry Twp. Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, Chair of the Pleasant Grove UMC Building Committee and as Administrative Board chair for the church multiple times over the years. Everett was also a founding member and past President of the Muskingum County Real Estate Investors Association.
Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 400 Pleasant Grove Rd., Zanesville, Ohio with one hour of calling prior to funeral services held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the Church, with Pastor Eddie Warne and Pastor Dr. Linda Morrow officiating. He will be laid to rest at Salt Creek Cemetery, Chandlersville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the East Muskingum Student Endowment Fund, C/O Muskingum County Community Foundation.
