Florence Ellen Boyd Otero Myers, 86, of Zanesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, September, 1, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born August 4, 1923, in Cambridge, a daughter of the late John Kenneth and Vialla L. Smith Boyd. She graduated from Quaker City High School and had training at Cambridge Business School. Florence was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church, Marg Imhausen Circle, Semper Fidelis Sunday School Class and Coburn United Methodist Women. She had been the church secretary at Coburn United Methodist Church for 35 years. At the time of her death she had been a resident of the Helen Purcell Home and leaves behind many friends in the staff and residents. In addition to those at Helen Purcell she leaves behind many other friends and several nieces and nephews. Florence is survived by her son, Boyd Dana Otero of Zanesville and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Onstott of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence Otero and James David Myers. A dignified cremation has taken place per Florence's request. Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Zanesville Memorial Park where Rev. Doris Flynn has graciously agreed to perform the services. Doris was another one of Florence's very good friends. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Florence to: the Memorial Fund or to the Scholarship Fund both at Coburn United Methodist Church, 3618 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
