Frances Mae Guss Painter, 84, of Hazelhurst, Georgia, formerly of Zanesville died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at her daughters home. She was born May 18, 1920 in Zanesville a daughter of the late Roy and Elsie Miller Guss. She was a homemaker and a member of Jehovah's Witness North Congregation. Frances graduated from Zanesville High School in 1938. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and John Edmonson of the home, three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Glenna Painter of Hawkinsville, GA., Roger and Glenda Painter of Ashland, Ohio and David Painter of Port Richey, Fla., a brother, Marlyn Guss of Aurora, Indiana, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, 5 step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Luther Painter who died October 23, 2000 and whom she married January 12, 1939, 4 brothers, Robert Guss, John Guss, Hubert Guss and Richard Guss, 7 sisters, Marcella Snyder, Margaret Bowers, Beatrice Pyles, Jean Parsons, Sarah Ullman, Mary Ellis and Fern Pierce, and a granddaughter, Renee Keeley Painter. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2004 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Private grave side services will take place Saturday at Williams Cemetery, Zanesville. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Jehovah's Witness, North Congregation with Keith Painter officiating.
