Frances L. Summers, 89, of Zanesville, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009 at her home. She was born May 6, 1919, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Helen Kumick Butryn and Thomas Butryn. Frances was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Circle. She was a former employee of Mosaic Tile Company of 28 years and then worked for Adornetto's for 28 years where she retired at the age of 78. Frances is survived by four loving and devoted daughters, twin daughters, JoAnn Jenkins of Zanesville and JoAnna (Ron) Shelly of Georgetown, Texas, Sandra (John) Rostek of Massillon, Ohio and Carolyn Browning of Norwich; a sister, Julia Shumate; several nieces and nephews; 5 grandchildren, Eric Parmater of Los Angeles, California, Matthew Parmater of Columbus, Ohio, Susan Parmater of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Bradley Browning of Portland, Oregon and Kristen Balala of Massillon, Ohio; and 2 great grandchildren, Tony and Derek. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, who passed away March 22, 1951; four sisters, Theophia, Josephine, Della and Sophia; two brothers, Peter and Joseph; three sons-in-law, Phillip Snyder, Bill Jenkins and John Browning; and a grandson, Derek Rostek. Family will welcome friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 and services at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009. A memorial service celebrating the life of Frances will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Rev. Joy French officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Frances may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 857 Putnam Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701 or to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
