Francis L. "Sonny" Whiteman, 77, of Zanesville, died at 3:43 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Beckett House, New Concord, Ohio. He was born November 15, 1933, in Zanesville, a son of the late Harry and Hazel Marie Dillinger Whiteman. He graduated from Lash High School Class of 1952, was the former Owner and Operator of Whiteman Trenching and was a sheet metal worker for 25 years. Sonny was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, member of the Eagles Lodge #302 and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #24. Surviving are three sons, Mike (Gina) Whiteman and Brad (Cheri) Whiteman, all of New Concord and Greg (Carrie) Whiteman of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Lacey, Nicole, Brock and Tanner; a sister, Betty Cavinee of New Lexington; a step-brother, Donald (Marily) Whiteman of Benson, Arizona. Graveside services will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora with Rev. Ken Blood officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville entrusted with all arrangements.
