Frank Ryan Jr.

Frank Ryan Jr., 86, of Zanesville, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born June 14, 1921, in Zanesville, a son of the late Frank A. and Pearl Mandle Ryan. Frank retired as a salesman for the Roekel Company. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, was a member of VFW George Selsam Post #1058, was awarded the Purple Heart and was a member of the Purple Heart Association, was a Past President for 2 years of the International Federation of Post Card Dealers and was an avid bowler and gardener. He is survived by his second wife, Sara A. Maier Trimmer Ryan of the home; a son, Michael (Karen) Ryan of Delaware, Ohio; a granddaughter, Rachel Ryan of Zanesville; a grandson, Christopher Ryan of Delaware, Ohio; a step-son, Larry Trimmer of Lexington, Kentucky and three step-daughters, Lois (Murray) Adler of Camarillo, CA, Susan (Kent) Benko and Cindy Trimmer, both of Indianapolis, Indiana. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie E. Paine Ryan, who died October 16, 1995; two brothers, Robert and Mandle Ryan and a sister, Doris Bittner. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Corey Bane of the Grace Baptist Church of Delaware, Ohio officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
