Franklin Edward Spillman, 71, of Zanesville, died at 6:05 a.m., June 15, 2005 at Genesis Hospice, Morrison House following a lingering illness. He was born Dec. 8, 1933 in Zanesville, the son of the late Frank Joseph and Pansy Morrison Spillman. He was active in all sports as a youth and graduated from Zanesville High School in 1952. He was a member of the football team which won 25 consecutive games over a three-year period and he earned All-COL honors. Frank was a U.S. Marines veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was chosen Outstanding Marine of his company and was on the traveling competitive rifle and pistol team. He was a state-certified welder, a member of Plumbers Pipefitters Local #95 for 40 years and was the business manager over five counties for nine years. He was a member of American Legion #29, VFW George Selsam Post 1058, Lodge of Amity # 5 F& AM, Amrou Grotto # 45 and was a Methodist by faith. Surviving are his former wife, Barbara Orwig Spillman of Zanesville, a son, Mark Alan Spillman of Zanesville; two daughters, Beth Ann (Dave) Kessler of Zanesville and Julie Kay Altier of Chandlersville, six grandchildren, Korri Kessler, Cassie Kessler, Wesley Smith, Wyatt Smith, Johnny Altier, and Austin Wiezbiski; a sister, Jackie (Don) Collins, two nieces Autumn Lee Wilden and LouAnn Maxwell, and nephew Scott Collins. No calling hours will be observed. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Cornerstone Full Gospel Church, 4509 Salt Creek Drive, Duncan Falls with Pastor J. Stephen Harrop officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 holding full military rites at the grave In Lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Alzheimers Association, Canton Office, 4815 Munson Street, N.W., Canton, Ohio or to The Frank E. Spillman Scholarship Fund, C/O Beth Ann Kessler, 2780 Lovers Lane, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Service , 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville entrusted with all arrangements.
