Freda "Dee" Douglas Dawson, 96, of Zanesville, died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 3:40 A.M. She was born May 31, 1919 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Stephen A. and Maggie E. Marple Douglas. She graduated from Lash High School in 1937 and Ohio Central Business College. She was a homemaker, and a former accountant at the Zanesville Y.M.C.A. for 40 years. Dee was a lifetime member of Immanuel Church of Zanesville, where she taught Sunday school for over 60 years. She was an avid stamp collector, loved to collect salt and pepper shakers, mugs and pretty plates. She loved animals, especially horses, cats and dogs. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. (Jerry) Pethtel of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Kyle E. Warne and Cody A. Pethtel; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion E. Dawson, who died March 10, 1983; a daughter, Deborah M. Warne who died April 16, 1994; a brother, Raymond (Garnett) Douglas; and a sister, Dorthea (Alton) Miller of Zanesville. Friends and family may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUENRAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Mitch Reed officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Marion at St. Paul Cemetery at Sonora.
