Frederick J. Sharkey

Frederick John Sharkey, 61, of Zanesville, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 13, 1952, in Zanesville, a son of the late Frederick Jr. and Betty J. Hewitt Sharkey. He graduated from Zanesville High School, and had worked at Muskingum College and as a Maintenance Engineer for ZMHA for 13 years. He loved to fish, enjoyed professional football, and was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns. Surviving are his wife Kathy Y. Kirkbride Sharkey, whom he married July 22, 2006; a daughter Wendy (Shane) Boykin of Zanesville; a step-daughter, Renee (Wolfie) Ewart of Zanesville; a step-son, Kenneth H. (Noel) Mason of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Clay Boykin and Chloe Boykin; five step-grandchildren; five sisters, Connie (Garry) Driggs of Zanesville, Nancy (Marion) Stoneburner of GA, Helen (Tony) Burtnett of Nashport, Trudy (Greg) Knapp of Kent, and Wilma Jean Semon of Zanesville; a brother, Don (Becky) Sharkey of Zanesville; a sister-in-law, Ruth Grimm of Zanesville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joe Grimm. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 14, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 15, 2014, with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
