Fritz Helms, 85, of Dresden, died at 9:11 P.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born February 9, 1927, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Lyle and Florence Frazier Helms. He retired as a foundry worker from Clow, and had also worked in security and Woodcraft for the Longaberger Company. He was a member of Washington Township Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. In addition, he was a WWII Navy Veteran, and a member of VFW Post #6193. Surviving are his wife, Carol S. McNeish Helms, whom he married April 11, 1965, of the home; four sons, Sean (Amy) Helms of Adamsville, Kurt (Jodi) Helms of Coshocton, Eric (Michelle) Helms of Nashport, and Bob Helms of Columbus; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Friends and family may call from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, and also one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 21, 2012, at the Washington Township Baptist Church, 5500 Church Hill Road, Zanesville, with Pastor Christopher Riggs officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Township Baptist Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy in conjunction with VFW Post #6193.
