Garnet L. Caplinger Hayes McGee, 88, of Zanesville, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. She was born January 26, 1921, in Swift, Ohio, a daughter of the late Obid Harrison and Nancy Provience Caplinger. She was a former cafeteria director for the YWCA and was a former baker for Hall's Restaurant. She was a member of the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church, Ohio Country Music Association and the Senior Citizens. Surviving are two daughters, Leona (David) Zaverl of Zanesville and Patricia (Harry) Harper of Nashport; 5 granddaughters; 16 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren and 2 future great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne Caplinger of Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh (Curly) Hayes, who died May 20, 1984; her second husband, Glenn P. (Fibber) McGee, who died January 5, 2000; three sisters, Gladys Rowland, Virgie Irene Caplinger and Margaret Taylor; seven brothers, Clarence, Otto, James, Dale, Earl, Emmett and Hershel Caplinger; and a granddaughter, Maureen Graves. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Swift Cemetery, near Waterford, Ohio.
