Gene Arnold Jesse, 78, of Nashport, went away gently into the eternal sleep at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital February 27, 2013, at 6:10 A.M. When he was a kid, Gene was a paper boy, and as a teen, worked at Kroger's. He was always an ambitious person. He graduated from Lash High School in 1952. Gene came from a large family who are very loving and caring. Surviving are his wife, originally from Gilmer County, WV, Leragene "Genie" Louise Singleton Jesse, whom he married in 1953; a daughter Robin Ann (Charles) Hagedorn of Boston, MA; grandson David Charles of San Franciso, CA; granddaughter Kathlin Ann "Kati Ann" of Boston, MA; two sisters, Barbara Knepper, and Rosa Lee (Jack) Walters; brother-in-law Manny Council; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jesse of Zanesville, Teresa Jesse of Zanesville, and Rennie (Eldon) Singleton Johnson, of Buckhannon, WV. Gene was an avid bowler, golfer, and at one time played softball and soccer for the city teams. He loved the trips with his son-in-law Chuck and grandson David to the Allagash Waterways of Maine, where they camped, fished, and canoed on the river. Gene built his own home, and after retirement, he oversaw and worked for 2 years on the Leasure Masonic Temple on North Pointe Drive with volunteer help from all the members of the Temple, and others.
