Gene P. King Sr.

Gene P. King Sr., 82, of Etna, formerly of Zanesville, died at 11:35 A.M. on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, as a result of a bicycle accident. He was born February 15, 1932, in Belfry, KY, a son of the late Kelly and Hattie Curnutte King. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion. Gene retired after 37 years from McGraw Edison, was a member of Pataskala United Methodist Church, and his priority in life was his family. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth Ann Reichart King, whom he married July 21, 1955; two sons, Gene (Barbara) King Jr. of Zanesville, and Michael (Beth) King of Etna; a granddaughter Nicole Lee Ann (Zak) Wagner of Zanesville; a step granddaughter Erica Garbe of Columbus; two grandsons, Scott (Elizabeth) King of Cincinnati, and Todd (Amanda) King of Columbus; and a step grandson Chris Garbe of Columbus; five great grandchildren, Stuart, Aiden, Gavin, Elliott, and Emilia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ira, Otis, and Charles King. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, and one hour prior to the funeral which will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Brighton Free Methodist Church, 607 Brighton Blvd, Zanesville, with Pastor Jim Sharrett and Pastor Daniel Neville officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post #1058. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pataskala United Methodist Church: 458 South Main Street, Pataskala, Ohio 43062.
