Geneva P. Colyer

Mrs. Geneva Colyer, 88, of Zanesville, OH, passed away the evening of August, 19, 2024, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Luna Ping Phelps born April 11, 1936, in Alcalde, KY. Geneva worked at Century. She was a member of the Zanesville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Zanesville, where she faithfully attended until her illness prevented her from leaving her home. Geneva’s true passion was her family, especially her grandchildren who blessed her with so many cherished memories. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and especially loved birds, particularly Cardinals, with numerous feeders throughout the yard. She loved taking walks around Melody Lake and was beloved by so many in the neighborhood she called home for 52 years.

On September 11, 1956, she united in marriage with Noel Colyer and to this union two sons were born. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George and Floyd Phelps and sisters, Fernell Phelps, Maxine Hall, Juanita Hall, Irene Beasley, Wanda Sears and Ruth Ann Hill. Survivors include her children, Noel Colyer and wife Kim, of Zanesville, and Joel Colyer of Lewis Center, OH; sister Lois Allen of Louisville, KY; cherished grandchildren, Josh Colyer, Jake Colyer, Jena Colyer, Jesse Colyer, Jak Colyer and Joey Colyer; great-grandchildren, Liam Colyer, Lincoln Colyer, Quinn Colyer, Lawson Colyer, Landon Colyer and Paisley Kirkbride; among other relatives and dear friends.

Friends and family may call Friday, August 23, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 Noon, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Rev. Andy Winters officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
