George D. Lewis, 81, of Zanesville, died at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, October 12, 2008 at his residence. He was born October 20, 1926, in Zanesville, a son of the late John Albert and Christine Lewis. He was a retired foreman for Ohio Power, was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Amity Masonic Lodge #5 F&AM and the Freeland Gas Engine Club and he was a US Navy World War II Veteran. Surviving are his wife, Cloreen Bailey Lewis of the home; a son, George (Penne) Lewis of Durham, North Carolina; several step children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Bess Clark and several sisters and brothers. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Masonic Lodge services being held at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Lee Ann Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, near Sonora.
