Gerald R. Jones

Gerald R. Jones, 73, of Zanesville, died at 11:50 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2008 at his residence. He was born December 1, 1934, in Muskingum County, a son of the late William B. and Grace Plumley Jones. He retired as a hot end supervisor for Owens Brockway Glass after 40 years of service. He attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, was a U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran and a lifetime member of the Muskingum Valley Beagle Club. Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; a sister, Roberta Smith of Zanesville; a brother, Donald Jones of Tampa, Florida and a step daughter, Tracy (Ken Mathews) Lough of Senecaville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Reed Jones, who died in 1987; a step son, William A. "Buck" Reed, who died in 1979; a special friend, Marlene Lough, who died in 2006; an infant son and a brother, Harold E. Jones. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
