Gladys M. Smith, 90, of Zanesville, died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, January 1, 2007 at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care Morrison House. She was born February 26, 1916, in Stovertown, the daughter of the late William and Edna Baughman Edwards. Gladys was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and also the Eventide Circle and Friendship Class at the church. She participated and volunteered at the Senior Citizens No. 1. Surviving are two daughters, Wilma Patton of Tampa FL. and Alice (Ken) Berry of Nashport; a son, Don E. (Judy) Smith of Katy TX.; four sisters, Louise Lawyer of Tulsa OK., Betty (Paul) Webster of Zanesville, Ina Mae (Chester) Maxwell of Zanesville and Esther (Ed) Jellison of Roseville; two brothers, Leonard (Lucy) Edwards of Zanesville and Wayne (Ruth) Edwards of Indianapolis IN.; nine grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Smith, who died October 13, 1990; a sister, Mary Barclay and two brothers, Charles and Raymond Edwards. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 with Rev. Rob Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park In lieu flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Faith United Methodist Church or to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care - Morrison House.
