Glendon Charles (Brownie) Brown, age 84, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 6:25 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born January 20, 1925, in Uniontown, PA. The son of the late Warren and Ivabelle Straw Brown. He was a long time member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Jaycees, Trumpet Section of the Zanesville Memorial Band, Knights of Columbus, Eagles Lodge # 302, Richvale Grange, Calico Pairs Ballroom Dance Club, Motivators Square Dance Club, Watchmakers Assoc. Of Ohio, The American Watchmakers Institute, National Watch Collectors Assoc., Board of Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Board of Muskingum County Convention Authority. His hobbies and activities include herb gardening, monthly card club, swimming, received a silver medal in YMCA swimming Olympics, dancing (ballroom and square) and drove his Ford Model A in Zanesville parades. He was the founder and operator of the Time Shop Jewelers, where he was the principal watchmaker, jeweler, diamond grader and evaluator. He was a graduate of Uniontown High School in PA, Western PA Horological Institute, Gemological Institute of America and a Certified Accutron Technician. Surviving his wife, Rosemary Bleichner Brown (married 61 years) Four Children: Judge Susan Brown (husband David; son Tyler of Columbus), Jeff Brown, Chief Engineer, Honda R & D (wife Stephanie; daughter Emily of Columbus), Mariann Giles, M.D. (husband David; daughters Miranda and Olivia of Lewis Center) and Cindy Warne, Agent, Rankin & Rankin Insurance (Matt Micheli; daughter Andrea of Zanesville, with son Dylan); Brother, Williard Brown; wife Barbara of Pennsylvania; One Nephew and Five nieces Preceded in death besides the parents is a daughter, Carol-Anne Brown and brother, Ellwood Brown. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 24,2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th St., Zanesville with Father Luke Turon, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th St., Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
